Time: 9:30 – 2pm

Difficulty: 25,286 steps

Believe it or not we actually managed to follow the map with (almost) no mistakes! It was rated as a more challenging course than the ones we had previously followed and it was a steeper, harder climb. It was a lot of fun though and not too difficult. There was a lookout point at the top where there was a wonderful view but an icy, biting wind so not really a place to linger at this time of year. The top of Maruyama is just under 1000m so it was also the highest mountain we’d climbed so far. The autumn colours were starting to appear and the odd tree lit up against the deep blue winter sky was stunning.
