吉見エリア・Yoshimi Area

November 16th.

Start&Finish: Ichigo no sato (michi no eki in Yoshimi)

The weather: Cool and cloudy with intermittent sunshine.

Outfit/Equipment: Jeans, tshirt, jumper, lightweight shoes, hat.

Map: I didn’t follow any particular map. I walked from Ichigo no sato up to Hatchoko park, then back again.

Crowds: an occasional dog walker.

Time: 2-3 hours.

Difficulty: 17,547steps.

Another lone walk, back to Yoshimi, trying to make sense of the maps I got from Higashi Matsuyama Walking Center (see previous post). I love the michinoeki in Yoshimi because of the wonderful plant shop there. The owner is very friendly and sells an interesting array of good quality plants so it’s always worth stopping by to see what they have in stock. I saved a visit to the shop until after the walk though! I decided to head towards Hatchoko park, just because it was as good a place to aim for as any. Once out of the town the walk was pleasant and I always enjoy checking out the crops growing in the allotments, seeing the wide variety of houses there are and enjoying the peace of the now empty rice paddies.

I found my way to Anrakuji, which turned out to be a very nice temple to look round with some pretty autumn colours. Then on to Hatchoko park, which was surprisingly nice. How have I not found it until now? You can have a pleasant stroll around the edge of the lake and there are side trails away from the lake which I decided to save for another visit. If you just want to drive straight to the lake there is a car park, and there’s also a small campsite there.

After a peaceful wander by the lake I wended my way back to the rest area where a few new plants made their way into my car.
