嵐山渓谷・Ranzan Keikoku

January 16th

Start&Finish: Ranzan Keikoku Sightseeing Carpark (嵐山渓谷観光駐車場)

The weather: Sunny and cold.

Outfit/Equipment: Jeans, heat tech, jumper, hat, gloves, hiking shoes.

Map: I meandered round this area, following each path to see where it went.

Crowds: The odd hiker and dog walker.

Time: 10am to 12pm

Difficulty: 10,748 steps.

I was on my own again and looking for a gentle walk somewhere new. My knee was still playing up after hurting it on our hike to Nenogongen and I felt I needed to take it easier for a while.

The car park is large and there are some nice, clean toilets there so you can set out refreshed and ready for anything. It’s a very calm and pretty area, with gentle mountains to climb, a beautiful river and some pretty views. I did a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing, meeting the same people for an awkward ‘hello again!’ but it was nice for all that. I imagine it will be heaving in the summer with people trying to escape the heat.
